This is a small section of a very long parade of women bearing offerings to a local temple where their food will be blessed. The skill of balancing a load on your head is one that every girl is taught. Each temple will have its special day, and on Bali there are many temples.

The Balinese are very practical people. They carry these offerings to the temple where they are offered to the gods (who take the spiritual essences of the offerings) leaving the Balinese free to take the fruit home for consumption.
