Fisherman
Philippines
I forget where I met this fellow, but he was fishing in a small boat in a shallow lake, and he did not seem at all surprised to see me. He told me a lot in Tagalog, none of which I understood. I wished him well.

He is called "Lolo" (Grandfather). He has a small canoe-like boat with outriggers that he paddles towards the deepest part of the lake. There, he prepares his hook and nylon string that is wound around a carved wooden spool. He usually starts right before dawn because the fish bite better at that time. To while his time, he smokes a rolled dried tobacco leaf.
