Mist mountains
Sobaek Mountain, Korea
Those classical images in Chinese painted scrolls of piney moutains punctuating misty clouds are no exaggeration. Pilgrims can see the same here, on the east coast of South Korea.

Lin xiao Mei writes:
I once lived below these mountains. One morning around 6 o'clock as usual, I made a trip up the mountains. I passed the usual little temple. I went in and sat there for a awhile. It was all misty around me and I couldīt really see things too far away. And at that moment I thought I saw the head of a person appear from the wall of the shrine. I remembered the face of the person I saw was greyish and not very human like. It looked somewhat like a ghost or demon perhaps. I was so scared I couldnīt say a word. I got up and ran as fast as possible.
