Mysore was former capital of the state of Mysore (now Karnataka). It has had a long and colorful history. The most famous ruler was Tipu Sultan also known as the 'Tiger of Mysore'. He fought several valiant sometimes victorious battles against the British led by Gen. Cornwallis ( who was sent to India after having lost in America) in the late 1790s. He is credited with modern use of rockets in battles.

During the festival season of Dusherra ( October every year) this palace complex will be beautifuly lit with lights and the roads around the palace will be covered with bandar ( thatched roof structures). There will be state fairs and other exhibitions im Mysore then, it will make this city filled with joy.
