The Rawanhathha of the Thori or Nayak Bhopas is probably the earliest instrument played with a bow, and this humble instrument could well be the precursor of the violin. It has two main strings and a variable number of supporting strings, with a belly of half coconut shell and a body of bamboo. The bow has ghungroos (bells) attached to it.

I was on this trip to Pushcar with my partner and I heard this strange and melodious sound which I had never heard before. I am a musician and it was a sound to take home with me. So I met this guy at my hotel and he taught me some basics of how to play this instrument but the only problem is that he could not really explain to me how to exactly tune it. So I'm still trying to find a tuner guide. But if I don't then I will make my own tuning to it. This is a instrument which will make you stop and listen......
