The beautiful landscape of kashmir may well be a contributing factor to the "sufi" style beliefs of the kashmiri people. Sufism in itself is practised by many Muslims around the world and the core fundamentals of it encompass the belief that all things originate from God and are constantly evolving on a path of reunion with him. So yes, being surrounded by the luscious pastures and mighty mountains of Kashmir must be an everyday reminder of the creator of these marvels, God himself. Belief in One God; the roots of Islam foremost and Sufism afterwards.
