Thirty years ago, while traveling decidedly third class, I and my fellow Afghan travellers took a pee stop in these mountains.
It was almost dark. As if in a dream, about fifty feet away the largest bird I ever saw was standing. It spread its huge wings and with a slight jump just levitated and was gone from sight.
It was some kind of eagle, I never found out which.
